work it

When I find something that I love, something that part of me wants to keep a secret for myself but won't for the good of man-kind, I get a little excited. It's always inspirational and each time I stumble across something that is nothing short of amazing, it should always be better than the last and believe me, this person, their art, their life and their overall lifestyle is better than the last and most probably better than the next! Her name is Gloria Noto - She grew up in Michigan but spent most of her childhood in Italy, I believe. Her mother, an interior designer, so I can imagine her always being surrounded by the arts! She is a make-up artist and the editor-in-cheif of The Work Magazine! Just WOW! If you search her on google, you will find some fun interviews with Gloria, some beautiful images of her and finally the blog for her magazine - or to same le time HERE it is! It is a conceptual art and fashion magazine, that will make you very glad that you found it. I have just put my order in for issue 5 and I must get my hands on the back issues that I have missed! If you're anything like me, a new inspirational read is just what you need at any other time of day.

Monday's Muse

Today my muse is.... a website - The Selby! I would ramble on about how fascinating the man behind the project Todd Selby is but I think I will bore you. Instead, I will let you check out the rad website and  show you my favourite video. Now, in this video, what I love is the house, the hair and decor! It was made for the label Zara and to be honest, Zara isn't one of my favourite brands but this video is inspiring! Let me know what you think, do you have a favourite? What do you already love about Todd?

Personally, I love seeing where the designers design and photographers reside! Here is a video that was made for fashion label Zara! And after you watch can we please discuss 'Duffy's' rogue beard and extreme hair- facial and otherwise!!!

"The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist’s eye for detail."

Adoring Vintage

I have been following this blog for as long as I can remember, when I am feeling uninspired, I just pop on over and it makes me all kinds of better. She is a fabulous lady, with the most amazing wardrobe you can imagine... Anyway, things have come a long way and she has a studio in LA(?) and a website you can see here !

Interior Wars Part One

So my partner and I are moving out together and we are already clashing over how we are decorating. I thought that men didn't care about interior design, until now! We have butted heads over almost everything going into our home.  Some examples are; the coffee table, a bar, wardrobe, even the telephone! He commented on me being into a retro designed house, and why am I so obsessed with these old time interiors! He even went as  far as blaming Mad Men for my antique outburst! But does he not realise that I have been collecting things for my own home since my first job! Hence the reason I take up three rooms in my house now. There is no need to bring Mad Men into this argument, WHAT DID AMAZING LOOKING 50's/60'S DECOR EVER DO TO YOU?
So now, I am determined to mix everything he wants with everything I already have, plus some items that are on my 'to buy' list - A record player, a rolling bar, a wine table, a dressing table. Hmmm... The list goes on. So from now until our home looks 100 percent the way we want it to. This blog is going to be my inspiration board! Two more days until we move!!! Let the interior war begin!

Theatre Dejazet = Happy Monday

Here is something to brighten your Monday, it certainly is making me happy!
Wheels & Dollbaby is one of them fashion icon brands that I follow season to season and recently the beauty behind the brand, the mother of the holy fashion baby, Melanie Greensmith has teamed up with photographer and director, Ellen Von Unwerth who specialises in a sort of erotic femininity. They, together have created this beautiful short video titled Theatre Dejazet, which is so reminisent of Paris and the 50's. I love getting ready for the day with some kind of inspirational vid.. This is perfect! Enjoy!

Take a bow

I was feeling the urge to use my hands for something cute last night so I decided to make some little bows. Despite the fact that I had to push open my sewing room door with all of the strength in me, because I have SO much jammed in there and refuse to clean it out without the help of my mummabear and a bottle of wine, and then find my sewing machine and clean off all of the dust and left over cotton just to sew a couple of these little babes... It was totally worth the effort. So damn adorable!

sneak peak of my week

Please allow for me to first apologise about the quality (or lack thereof) in these pictures. They were taken with my iPhone and have uploaded terribly for some reason.

/ 1. I watched the season 5 finale of Mad Men and it has indisputably turned me into a 'mad woman', I already miss it dearly and am respectfully having the worst post- Mad Men bouts of depression / 2. I started my new job at Alannah Hill, this pic was me before I left for my first shift. It is a great job! High fashion and great people make work SO fun / 3. My new MAC lipstick in Russian Red. I am into it / 4. An OOTD shot. I wore some high socks that I picked up from a local costume shop and my favourite vintage tap shoes (I removed the tapper of course) to a brewery for a delicious lunch...

A bunch of other stuff had gone down this week but I have a macadamia cookie that is screaming to be devoured, staring me in the face.

Great reads

I have been lucky enough this week to have interviewed some great people who have been more than generous with helping me out with a uni assignment. One person that I have been in contact with, that you should definitely check out is Geraldine aka The Everywhereist Her travel blog is one of the best reads this week. She is unapologetic and intellectually funny! The Everywhereist was named one of the best blogs in 2011 by Time Magazine

Instagram. The past week.

It was my grandfather's birthday. I celebrated alone, he was an artist and a musician and my greatest inspiration, I never got to tell him that! He was the greatest person I know! <3
I went out for Spanish food with my dudefriend, the waiter was a babe, the food was greasy and we saw a man pass out. I did have a delicious organic lime and cranberry drink though.
I got a puppy, Amelie! She is a rescue dog. She had been left by the side of the road with her sister, she has a stumpy tail and everybody thinks she is the runt of the litter, but thats ok because so am I.
I drank pink lemonade, it's my favourite drink! And Marilyn because she makes Monday's ok!

Oh My Art!!

Check out these illustrations by Liz Clements. I don't really need to blab on about how fantastic they are! If you have eyes then you can see just as well as I can..
